Cooler weather finally kick in

It’s about time to get some rain after this drought season. Feeling so great to see our garden in soaking wet without a little help of the sprinkler on Friday morning. It would be very wonderful if this happen during weekend so that I can continue sleep in. But just not this time. According to the news there are some hail fall like a size of golf ball whoa.

Anyway, I truly like the cooler weather. Looking forward to look at the leafs from the tree changing color and smelling the spice. It a wonderful time of the year…

Fall break is almost over…

Whoa I can’t believe the fall break is almost over.  This mark the last weekend of fall break and fall classes will be started next week #timeflies.  With that note I will enjoy this weekend to the fullest.

Lovely dinner to wrap up the exhausted week…

What a lovely dinner to wrap up an exhausted week. These plates not only pretty but all very yummy. We both enjoy the dinner very much. Though price might be a little deep but hey we deserved it after an exhausted week.

– Hamachi shot – so good and we almost order the second one
– Caesar salad – pretty in the eye and yummy in the mouth
– Fillet Mignon – perfectness
– Seared scallop – Awesomeness

We enjoy every bite of these and can’t wait to go back…

Healthy Kick-off challenge

Doing the “School Get Healthy Kick-off challenge!” with our IBOS team. Knowing me, going off sugar for any period of time is going to be incredibly hard. The reason I am sharing this is for my fellow in FBHQ to keep me honest and shame me if am cheating.

Its a 40 day program and here is how it works!

You may receive 1 point for completing each category per day: (max 4 per day)
• 1 point for every day you make it with no sugar. Sugar includes (but not limited to); maple syrup, agave nectar, coconut sugar, Splenda, equal, xylitol, stevia, evaporated cane juice, brown rice syrup, etc. Read your labels, because companies sneak sugar into products in ways you might not recognize. Honey is the only thing allowed because of those with seasonal allergies
• 1822: Americans consume 45 grams of sugar every five days, or the amount of sugar in a can of coke.
• 2012: Americans consume 756 grams of sugar every five days, or 130 POUNDS of sugar a year.
o This is probably the largest cause for third of our nation being obese and 75% of Americans being overweight. Not only does it contribute to Heart Disease (the number 1 killer in America), it causes so many other bodily issues in us and our children. • 1 point every day you complete 30 minutes of an elevated heart rate workout. This could include running, elliptical, biking, swimming, strength training, hiking, dancing, ect. But it needs to be intentional. Grocery shopping for 30 minutes does not count.

• 1 point for every day you drink 2 liters (68 oz.) of water. Our bodies are about 60% water so why not keep it hydrated. Get a bottle and make marks so you know where you are at. Studies show drinking water can increase energy, brain function, weight loss, skin health and much more. Two studies showed drinking 17oz. of water can temporarily boost metabolism by 24-30% (and who doesn’t want that!)

• 1 point for every day you complete 75 sit-ups, 50 squats or 25 push-ups. You don’t have to do all, choose one and rotate daily so you get strong all over.

Mid-Autumn Festival

The mid-autumn festival also known as Lantern Festival fall on 8th of September 2014.  As for Chinese calendar it will be the 15th day of 8 month.  People who celebrate this day will purchase moon cake and enjoy the moon.The key is family gathering just like Thanksgiving for American.

Children will light up the their lantern and walk around the valley with their friends.  I remember I always want the shinning and the most pretty one.  Used up at least at least 2 boxes of candles.  Most of the city, will organize dragon boats competition.  The single boys and girls will go and watch the competition than will have a change to meet and know each other.

New Approach – Kaiser Permanente Hospital

Went for the annual routing doctor visit @ Kaiser Permanente Hospital early this week. As I am waiting for my turn and I notice the clinic assistance came to me and said ‘Hi, Mrs Scott and my name is Chester and I will taking care of your doctor visit today’. Whoa! I kind of stoke because how would he know is me where so many people are waiting there. Thus I asked, how do you know is me. He said that is a new approach from the hospital instead of calling the patient name loud and front desk will put a note to the file. Such as color of the outfit, where is the location of the patient currency sit.

I thought this is brilliant ideal compare to listen to your name call out loud. A small and simple thing makes a different. Keep it up Kaiser and you did great.

Cherimoya and dragon fruits

2014-08-30 08.36.172014-08-30 08.38.36Saw these in the grocery store.  It look very interesting.  The green one call is Cherimoya and the pink one is call dragon fruits/Pitaya. 

Both looks very interesting to us.  Thus we picked 2 each just to try it.  I recalled mom told me about dragon fruits but do not know what it is.  Now, we will going to try it.  Our plan is to put in the fridge and wait for it to cool down and taste it ah can’t wait.
